Forest Managers are working to reduce hazardous fuels across the Black Hills National Forest.
Beginning today, (1/5/22), the Hell Canyon Ranger District (southern hills) will be burning piles near Sidney Park road and Glen Erin road, approximately 2.5 Miles SE of Custer, SD. Fire crews plan to burn in this area for several weeks, conditions permitting.Starting tomorrow, (1/6/22), Mystic fire crews (central hills) are planning to burn piles approx. 7 miles south of Deerfield Lake and 12 miles west of Hill City, SD. Smoke may be visible from Ditch Creek Road and Six Mile Road.
