Black Hills National Forest Pile Burning

• Today, 1/28/21, Bearlodge fire is burning piles south of State HWY 24 off Blacktail Road (FS road 849), approximately 15 air miles NW of Sundance, WY. These piles are part of the Crossbones and Mummy timber sales.

• Northern Hills fire will be burning in the Clayton Draw area over the next several days as conditions permit.

Black Hills National Forest Pile Burning

• Mystic fire will be burning piles over the next two weeks in the vicinity of the Boy Scout Camp and 8 miles west of Hill City. Smoke may be visible from Custer and Hill City.

• Northern Hills fire will be burning behind the old Brownsville VFD station, heading north on the west side of Hwy 385, up to Strawberry Hill, 1/27 & 1/28.

January 25, 2021

Black Hills National Forest Pile Burning  

• The Hell Canyon Ranger District is planning to burn approximately 400 machine piles around highway 85 beginning at Hardy guard station and moving south from there along the state line over the next week. Smoke may be visible from Hwy 85, Newcastle, and surrounding areas.  Most of the snowmobile trails will be utilized to ignite piles
• The Northern Hills Ranger District is planning to burn hand piles and machine piles throughout the week and into next. Piles are located on Keough Road, Dalton Lake Road, and along Nemo Road from County Road 044 to Old Ridge Road.
• The Bearlodge Ranger District is planning to burn approximately 80 machine piles South of State HWY 24, on Forest road 830, off Forest road 838, and off of Blacktail FS road 849. Roughly 15 air miles NW of Sundance, WY. This project is planned to start tomorrow, 1/26/2021. 

Nebraska National Forest Pile Burning

• The Pine Ridge Ranger District will be burning piles south of Chadron State Park and south of Chadron Creek Wildlife Management Area starting today, 1/25/2021. Smoke will be visible along highway 385.

Black Hills National Forest

• Northern Hills Ranger District is burning piles west of Spearfish, SD off of Crow Peak Bench Road, near Crow Peak.

• Bearlodge Ranger District is burning south of State HWY 24, on Forest Service Road (FSR) 830, off FSR 838, and off of Blacktail FSR 849, approximately 15 air miles NW of Sundance, WY, conditions permitting.

Black Hills National Forest Pile Burning

• The Mystic Ranger District (central hills) will be burning approximately 3 acres of piles along the south shore of Sheridan Lake starting today, 1/20/2021. Smoke will be visible from the lake and along highway 385.

• Northern Hills Ranger District is burning piles off of Mount Roosevelt Road, near Deadwood, SD.

• Bearlodge Ranger District is burning today, (1/20/21) and tomorrow (1/21/21) off of Reynolds Road to FS 872.3 to FS 872.3A. Piles are part of the Elkhorn and Fish Timber Sales, approximately 10 miles SSE of Sundance, WY.

 Black Hills National Forest Pile Burning

• Hell Canyon Ranger District (southern hills) ~ Crews are burning approx. 400 large machine piles, 15 miles NE of Newcastle, WY, along the state line thru the week. Smoke may be visible from Hwy 85, Newcastle, and surrounding area for several days.

• Mystic Ranger District (central hills) is burning piles 4-6 miles S/SW of Deerfield Lake for the next two weeks, as conditions permit. Smoke may be visible from Deerfield Lake and surrounding area.

• Northern Hills Ranger District is burning piles that are located on the west side of HWY85 near the Preacher Smith Monument FSR 128.1 for the next two weeks, conditions permitting.

• Bearlodge Ranger District (near Sundance, WY) ~ Crews are burning for the next several days off of Moskee Road to Grand Canyon to Schoolhouse Gulch. Piles are part of the Coil, Redbelly, and Mongoose timber sales, approx. 12-15 air miles SE of Sundance, WY.

Bearlodge Ranger District is burning machine piles today (1/13/21) thru the week, as conditions permit. Crews are burning off of Moskee Road to Grand Canyon to Schoolhouse Gulch. Piles are part of the Coil and Red Belly timber sale, approximately 15 air miles SE of Sundance, WY.

Hell Canyon Ranger District will be burning machine piles this week, possibly beginning today and lasting through Friday (Jan 11-15).  Approximately 400 piles will be burned about 15 miles Northeast of Newcastle, Wy along the state line.  

Northern Hills Ranger District will be burning piles in the Turkey Tail Timber Sale area, East of Iron Creek Lake, beginning today through the next two weeks. 

Mystic Ranger District will be burning piles in the Fox Flats area this week.

Smoke may be visible from various locations throughout the Forest.

Black Hills National Forest - 

The Bearlodge Ranger District is planning to burn hand and machine piles beginning today, January 5, 2021 through the week.  Piles are from timber sales located approximately 15 - 17 miles southeast of Sundance, WY, along Moskee Road to Grand Canyon Road to Schoolhouse Gulch.   

The Northern Hills Ranger District is planning to burn hand and machine piles beginning today, January 5, 2021 through the week.  Piles are located along Rifle Pit north to Wagon Canyon including areas east of Tinton Road in the Limestone Ridge area. Crew are also planning to burn piles near Clayton Draw and Deadwood Lodge.
