March 6, 2023 - Pile Burning

 Black Hills National Forest

Northern Hills fire will be burning piles north and south of Nemo Road and west of Old Ridge Road over the next 7 days as snow and weather conditions allow. 

Mystic fire (central hills) will be lighting hand piles around Hill City, SD and machine piles by Gillette Prairie through the week, as conditions permit.

Hell Canyon fire (southern hills) will be burning approx. 100 machine piles, 8 miles west of Custer, SD over the next couple days. Smoke may be visible.

March 2, 2023 - Pile Burning

 Black Hills National Forest

Mystic Fire (central hills) is planning to burn piles located off East Slate and Medicine Mountain Road starting today, 3/2 - 3/3, as conditions permit.

Northern Hills Fire continues to burn in the Deadwood Fuels project, close to Mount Roosevelt Friendship Tower, for the next two weeks as conditions permit. Smoke will be visible from Hwy 85. 

February 28, 2023 - Pile Burning

South Dakota Wildland Fire

South Dakota Wildland Fire along with the Black Hills National Forest (Northern Hills Ranger District) will be burning approximately 19 acres of slash piles today and throughout the week near the Deadwood Lodge. Smoke may be visible for several days.

Mystic Fire (central hills) will be burning piles for the next several days northwest of Bear Mountain Lookout Tower.

February 23, 2023 - Pile Burning

 Black Hills National Forest

Hell Canyon fire (southern hills) will be burning approx. 50 large machine piles, 2-5 miles northeast of Custer, SD today (2/23/23). Smoke may be visible from Hwy 385 for several days.

February 21, 2023 - Pile Burning

Black Hills National Forest

Northern Hills fire will be burning approximately 40 machine piles north of the 385/Merritt Estes junction on the East side of Highway 385 today, 2/21/23. Crews are aiming to finish the project with one day of lighting, but smoke may be visible from 385 for the next several days.

Northern Hills fire continues to burn piles located west of Hwy 85 and North of Deadwood near Mount Roosevelt Friendship Tower, for the next two weeks as conditions permit.

Mystic fire (central hills) is planning on conducting pile burns in one or multiple units this week. Depending on weather and snow accumulations, crews will monitor as to which project areas will be implemented. Project locations include: south of Deerfield Reservoir, near Lowden Mountain, the Bogus Jim area/south of Green Mountain and several piles northeast of Whitetail Campground.
