Northern Hills fire will be burning approximately 40 machine piles north of the 385/Merritt Estes junction on the East side of Highway 385 today, 2/21/23. Crews are aiming to finish the project with one day of lighting, but smoke may be visible from 385 for the next several days.
Northern Hills fire continues to burn piles located west of Hwy 85 and North of Deadwood near Mount Roosevelt Friendship Tower, for the next two weeks as conditions permit.
Mystic fire (central hills) is planning on conducting pile burns in one or
multiple units this week. Depending on weather and snow accumulations, crews will monitor as to which project areas will be implemented. Project locations include: south of Deerfield Reservoir, near Lowden Mountain, the Bogus Jim area/south of Green Mountain and several piles northeast of Whitetail Campground.
