• Estimated Size: 2,500 acres 
• Cause: Lightning

Dismal East Fire

• Reported at 2:49 p.m. on May 18^th, 2022
• Location: Thomas County, NE, 12 miles southwest of Halsey, NE
• Size: 6.5 acres
• Cause: unknown
• Responding Resources: federal and local
• Contained at 4:38 pm on May 18th, 2022 

Whitetail Fire Update

• Reported at 1:27 p.m. on May 17th, 2022 
• Location: Thomas County, NE, ½ mile north of Whitetail Campground
• Size: 8 acres
• Cause: Lightning
