Bowman Fire Caused by Lightning & Now Contained



Pringle, SD – Crews from Federal, State and Volunteer Fire Departments arrived at the Bowman Fire 3 miles east of Pringle late this afternoon.   Control lines were completed, the fire is contained and crews are mopping up hot spots.
The Bowman Fire is located on US Forest Service Lands, burned approximately 2.5 acres and was caused by lightning. Crews will continue on watch and mop up until dark tonight and then through tomorrow.  
Resources that responded included Federal, State and Volunteer Fire Departments from Argyle, Custer and Pringle.  No structures were threatened.

Bowman Fire Reported Near Pringle



Pringle, SD – A fire has been reported earlier today and crews are enroute to  approximately 3 miles straight east of Pringle, SD in the Bowman Ridge Area.
The Bowman Fire size is estimated to be approximately one acre and better information will be available when crews arrive on scene.  Early reports are that the fire is in an area with lots of fuels on the ground with significant amounts of dead and down trees.   At this time the cause is unknown, and whether it is on public or private land
Engines responding include one Federal, two State and Volunteer Fire Departments from Argyle, Custer and Pringle.  One handcrew is also enroute.
