February 4, 2020 - Pile Burning

South Dakota Wildland Fire Division

The Black Hat Handcrew is currently burning approximately 150 slash piles in the Boulder Canyon area today (between Sturgis and Deadwood). If conditions are appropriate, firefighters may continue to burn tomorrow. Crews will monitor the piles for several days. Smoke may be visible for several days in the surrounding areas. Nebraska National Forests & Grasslands

The Pine Ridge Ranger District will be burning slash piles in multiple locations throughout the week of February 3-7. These locations include: near the Hudson-Meng Education and Research Center, two miles South of the Hudson-Meng Education and Research Center, Pasture 20 thirteen miles South of Chadron, and Pasture 35 seven miles Southeast of Chadron. Mystic fire (central hills) is planning to burn hand piles, as conditions allow, throughout the week in the Jenny Gulch/Silver City area.
