• Reported at 2:04 PM
• Location: Approximately 4 miles North of Nemo in Lawrence County
• Size: 2.5 acres as if 4:00 PM
• Resources responded: State and Federal resources

 Black Hills National Forest Pile Burning

• Mystic fire (central hills) is burning piles 7 miles northwest of Deerfield Lake for the next several days, as conditions permit. Smoke may be visible from Deerfield Lake and Rochford.

 Black Hills National Forest Pile Burning

• Bearlodge fire is burning south of State Hwy 24, off Forest Service Road (FSR) 838, approximately 15 air miles NW of Sundance, WY thru tomorrow, 2/23/21, as conditions permit. Bearlodge is also burning off of FSR 830, 4 miles NW of Bearlodge Campground.

 Black Hills National Forest Pile Burning

• Bearlodge fire will be burning hand piles on Fish Mountain, located east of Hwy 585 in the Black Buttes, south of Sundance, WY and in the Herman area, south of Hwy 24 off of FSR 838/Lame Jones, approx. 15 air miles northwest of Sundance, WY. Smoke will be visible from the Interstate.

 Black Hills National Forest Pile Burning

• Northern Hills fire will burning today and tomorrow in two different locations. The first location is southeast of Nemo, SD near Steamboat Rock Campground and the second location is southeast of Eagle Crest Subdivision, off of Maitland Rd, outside of Spearfish SD.

South Dakota Wildland Fire Division

• The Hot Springs District Office will be burning approximately 80 small hand piles in the Custer Highlands area.
• Custer State Park will be burning hand piles by Legion Lake and Wilson's Corner today through Thursday.

 Black Hills National Forest Pile Burning

• Bearlodge fire will be burning piles in the area of Fish Mountain,10 miles SE of Sundance, WY (south on Hwy 585 to Canyon Springs Rd. to FS Road 872.3) starting today, Feb. 16, 2021 and continuing the next several weeks as conditions permit.


• Mystic fire (central hills) will be burning piles 5 miles northwest of Deerfield Lake for the next several days, as conditions permit, in the vicinity of Flag Mountain lookout. Smoke may be seen around Deerfield Rd., south of Rochford Rd. and Deerfield Lake.

South Dakota Wildland Fire Division

• The Rapid City Office will be burning slash piles today and tomorrow at the National Guard West Camp which is located on the western edge of Rapid City. 

• The Black Hat Handcrew will be burning small slash piles in the Johnson Siding area behind Station 2 off of the Cavern Crest Road.

• The Bear Mountain Handcrew will be burning small slash piles in the Stone Tree Fuels Project which is located east of interstate off of the Pleasant Valley and Erickson Ranch Roads in Meade County.

 Black Hills National Forest Pile Burning

Mystic Fire (central hills) will continue ignitions in the vicinity of Pactola Reservoir starting Saturday 2/13/21. Ignitions are also planned along Silver City Road and along Victoria Lake Road starting 2/15. Smoke will be visible along highway 385 and may linger for several days after ignitions are complete.

• Mystic fire (central hills) is burning piles 6 miles NE of Hill City, SD in the vicinity of Horse Creek Rd and Hwy 385. Smoke may be seen along HWY 385.

Black Hills National Forest Pile Burning

• Mystic fire (central hills) is burning piles along Victoria Lake Road (FSR 159) today, 2/10/21. Smoke will be visible along Sheridan Lake Road and may impact Victoria Lake, near the dam, during ignitions.

• Northern Hills fire will be burning a pile located in Maitland Canyon. 

• Hell Canyon fire (southern hills) will burn approx. 20 skid steer piles 5 miles north of the Tepee Work Center this afternoon. Smoke may be visible from Hwy 16.

• Bearlodge fire (Sundance, WY) is burning piles in the Buttes and Blacktrail Road area.

February 9, 2021

 South Dakota Wildland Fire Division

• The Hot Springs District Office will be burning approximately 80 small slash piles in the Custer Highlands area starting today and throughout the week.
• The Bear Mountain and Black Hat Handcrews will be burning approximately 100 small slash piles in the Boulder Canyon area.
• Custer State Park and Custer District Office personnel will be burning small slash piles in the Bluebell and Stockade areas. 

All fire personnel will continue to monitor these slash piles throughout the week. Pile burning is a great tool to reduce fire risk within our communities.

Black Hills National Forest

• Hell Canyon fire (southern hills) is burning approx. 70 large machine piles, 5 miles north and west of Custer, SD over the next couple of days. Smoke may be visible from Custer, Hwy 16 and 385 for several days.

• Mystic fire (central hills) is igniting piles along Baker Park Road (FSR 358.1F), in the vicinity of the Boy Scout Camp, and 8 miles west of Hill City. Smoke will be visible along Sheridan Lake Road, from Custer and Hill City.

February 8, 2021

 Black Hills National Forest Pile Burning

• Hell Canyon fire (southern hills) will be burning up to 100 large machine piles, 4 miles south of Custer, 5 machine piles at the Forest Service admin. site in Custer and 1 machine pile at the Tepee Work Center. Smoke & flames may be visible from Hwy 385, Custer and Hwy 16 for several days.

• Mystic fire (central hills) will be burning piles in the Balsar Gulch area and 5 miles northwest of Hill City, SD in the vicinity of Redfern and Mystic Road. Smoke will be visible along Sheridan Lake Road and Hill City.

• Mystic is also burning piles 5 miles NW of Hill City in the vicinity of Redfern and Mystic Road. Smoke may be seen in Hill City.

• Northern Hills District fire crew will be burning approximately 1000 piles along Rapid Creek Forest Service Road 231 and Bohls Canyon Forest Service Road 117, near the Northern Hills Work Center and Bear Ridge Forest Service Road 131.1. 

• Northern Hills fire crew is also planning to burn hand piles off Mt. Roosevelt Road (Forest Service Road 133), near Deadwood, the week of February 8th and piles located on Keough Rd. and Dalton Lake Rd.

• Starting tomorrow, 2/9/21, Bearlodge fire (Sundance, WY) is planning to burn piles on Fish Mountain, 10 miles SE of Sundance, WY (south on 585 to Canyon Springs Rd. to FS Road 872.3).

• Depending on conditions, Bearlodge Ranger District fire crew may also burn piles south of highway 24 off of Forest Service Road 838 (roughly 15 air miles northwest of Sundance, WY) sometime this week.

 Nebraska National Forest Pile Burning

• The Pine Ridge Ranger District will be burning slash piles Monday and Tuesday (February 8th and 9th), south of Chadron State Park and south of Chadron Creek Wildlife Management Area. Smoke may be visible along highway 385. 
• Should good burning conditions remain, the District will move northeast of the Cliffs area (Pasture 37E) and continue burning slash piles Wednesday through Friday (February 10-12).

Hazelrodt Fire

Hazelrodt Fire 

The Hazelrodt Fire is 100% contained as of 2:00 PM on February 5. This fire will remain in patrol status over the weekend, weather dependent.  

Updated acreage for February 4 at 9:30 AM is estimated at 53.1 acres.

• Size: The current estimated size is 5 to 7 acres
• Resources responded: State, Federal, and local resources to include overhead, handcrews, engines, and a dozer
• Cause: Under investigation

Citizens are asked to avoid the area while resources respond.

Black Hills National Forest Pile Burning

• Northern Hills fire will be burning piles located along Upper Two Bit Rd. and piles located behind the old Brownsville Volunteer Fire Department over the next two weeks, as conditions permit. Currently there is confirmed adequate snow cover in the area to burn.

• Hell Canyon fire (southern hills) will be burning approx. 25-40 large machine piles, 10 miles N of Moon Campground, for the next few days. Smoke may be visible from Hwy 16 & Hwy 385 for several days.
